Matvienko recalled that the working groups met in Istanbul today to resolve the issue of resuming the full-fledged work of the diplomatic missions of the United States and Russia.

"I am sure that an agreement will be reached, and we will return to civilized diplomatic communication, which was ruined by the previous administration [of the United States]," she said after talks with Chairman of the Grand National Assembly (Parliament) of Turkey Numan Kurtulmus.

She also expressed gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for Ankara's support for a peaceful resolution of the conflict at Ukraine.

"I want to personally thank President Erdogan and the Turkish leadership for advocating a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian conflict and doing a lot for this," the Federation Council speaker said.
