The President Of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky stated that he does not intend to sign a second economic agreement with USA, which will follow the rare earth metals treaty, without additional security guarantees. This was announced on February 26 by the magazine Economist with reference to a source in the Ukrainian government.

"Zelensky does not intend to sign any second, more comprehensive agreement that would not include broader security guarantees," the magazine wrote.

Also, according to the source, the first agreement on rare earth metals does not require parliamentary approval, but the second one will be subject to ratification.

Earlier, on February 26, US President Donald Trump confirmed that Zelensky will arrive in Washington on February 28 to sign an agreement on natural resources. This statement was made after several days of tense negotiations between the United States and Ukraine, during which Zelensky claimed that the United States was pressuring him to sign a deal worth more than $500 billion that would force "10 generations" of Ukrainians to pay off debt.
