The production of airbags will begin at UAZ

Serial production of passive safety systems will begin at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant this year. Alexey Spirin, General Director of UAZ, informed the Izvestia correspondent about this on January 27.

"This year we will start producing passive safety systems at the UAZ site. Moreover, it will not be just assembly, it will be production "from raw materials", starting with casting the steering wheel frame from magnesium alloy, sewing airbags, and manufacturing control units, Spirin said.

According to the head of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, these airbags will be used in UAZ vehicles and in the Sollers brand model range, including pickups. In addition, they are planned to be supplied to other Russian automakers in the future.

The day before, it was reported that the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant, as part of the ongoing modernization of production, put into operation new robotic complex at the welding site. The complex is designed for the mechanical connection of the internal and external panels of the UAZ "Patriot", "Pickup" and "Profi" attachments.On February 18, it became known that the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant conducted winter tests of promising diesel UAZ Profi in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. As follows from the test reports, during the tests, each of the three cars covered over 15 thousand km. To launch the UAZ Profi with a diesel engine with a six-speed manual transmission planned for spring 2025.
