A man and three children who fell through the ice were rescued on Lake Baikal

Employees of the search and rescue squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations rescued a man and three children, residents of Tomsk, who fell through the ice of Lake Baikal. This was reported on February 27 in the Telegram channel of the Baikal Search and Rescue Detachment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

The incident in the area of the Sarminskaya spit was reported to the Ministry of Emergency Situations on February 25. The Honda Stream car fell through the ice and partially sank into the water. There were four people in the car — the driver and three children aged from 8 to 11 years.

"By the time rescuers arrived, the injured had left the vehicle on their own. One child got wet," the message says.

The children were taken by all-terrain vehicle to a recreation center in the village of Kurma. Rescuers pulled the vehicle out of the water using a winch.

The staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reminded that going out and out on the ice outside specially equipped crossings is prohibited.

Earlier, on January 30, two men were on Lake Baikal diedafter falling into the water in a car. They went fishing in a UAZ car, and after a while they stopped contacting each other. The body of one of the victims was discovered on the day of the incident, and the body of the second one two days later at a depth of two meters.
