In Europe, Macron's visit to the United States was called a waste of time.

French President Emmanuel Macron has not received specific promises from the president USA Donald Trump on security guarantees for Ukraine during his stay in the White House. This was reported on February 26 in Politico.
According to the newspaper, Macron informed the EU leaders about his visit to Washington during an emergency videoconference.
«[Macron] said that Trump had not made any clear promises of support. So, indeed, the strategic uncertainty in this matter remains," said one of the EU diplomats.
It is noted that European countries are waiting for the United States to provide equipment, air defense systems and long-range missiles that European peacekeepers could use if the peace treaty implies their deployment in Ukraine.
Macron's visit to the United States was a "waste of time," a senior European official said. The second diplomat considered that Europe is now "quite alone" regarding guarantees for Kiev.
The day before, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) newspaper, citing sources in the White House, wrote that Trump's plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine does not include US commitments to send troops to the region or provide assistance in the event of a resumption of hostilities.
According to the newspaper, during his visit to Washington, Macron raised the issue of the need for US support for the forces that Paris and London are going to send to Ukraine after reaching a peace agreement. Trump, although he expressed support for this initiative, did not include it in the settlement plan.
