Attack aircraft of the 242nd Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 8th Army of the Southern Group of Forces captured a stronghold of the Armed Forces Ukraine (AFU) in the Kurakhovsky area of the special military operation (SVO). This was announced on February 27 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

In order to ensure the advance of the units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the attack aircraft secretly approached the enemy's stronghold and engaged in close combat. Then the Ukrainian militants barricaded themselves in a dugout, and responded to calls to surrender with small arms fire. Heavy mortar fire was conducted on the Russian attack aircraft, and drops were carried out from FPV drones, the ministry added.

It is noted that the fighters of the Russian Armed Forces captured the Ukrainian stronghold in a short time and without losses, destroyed the enemy, handed over the captured positions to the reinforcement group and retreated to the rear. At the same time, during the withdrawal from positions along the bottom of the anti-tank trench, the Ukrainian Armed Forces again tried to attack the attack aircraft with drones and cluster munitions. In total, the assault group destroyed 28 militant FPV drones with small arms during the battle, the Defense Ministry said.

Calculations of multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) "Hurricane" of the Zapad group of forces destroyed an MLRS combat vehicle, a temporary deployment point, and an accumulation of armored vehicles and manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the SVO zone. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation noted on February 26 that the adjustment of artillery fire and the recording of the destruction of targets was carried out using calculations of unmanned aerial vehicles.
