The gap between pensions in the regions has reached 27 thousand rubles.

As of January 2025, the largest old—age pensions for unemployed people were assigned to residents of Chukotka — 47 thousand rubles, and the lowest - in Kabardino-Balkaria in the amount of 20 thousand rubles. Thus, the difference amounted to 27 thousand, follows from the February data of the Social Fund for the results of 2024, which was reviewed by Izvestia.

The maximum regional pension turned out to be 2.35 times higher than the minimum. The average amount of old-age payments across Russia at the beginning of 2025 was 25 thousand rubles.

The gap has peaked since 2021, when statistics began to be published - in four years, the difference has increased from 18,000 to 28,000, or 1.5 times.

The top of the highest pensions also included the northern and Far Eastern regions, such as the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Magadan Region, the Kamchatka Territory and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia, Kalmykia and Crimea headed the anti-rating together with the CBD.

Vladimir Smirnov, Acting Director General of the Federal State Budgetary Research Institute of Labor of the Ministry of Labor, explained that such a gap is due to the fact that pensions directly depend on salaries. In the regions of the Far North, district coefficients are applied to salaries, so salaries there are higher, and, as a result, more pension points.

At the same time, the difference between salaries in the north and in the south reaches five times, said Natalia Milchakova, a leading analyst at Freedom Finance Global. According to Rosstat, as of November 2024, the highest average salary was in the Magadan region (193 thousand rubles per month) and in Chukotka (180 thousand), and the lowest in Ingushetia (39 thousand) and Chechnya (41 thousand).
