Adulterated milk revealed in St. Petersburg

Counterfeit milk, as well as milk that does not comply with GOST standards, were found in St. Petersburg stores. This was reported to Izvestia by the press service of the North-Western Interregional Administration of the Rosselkhoznadzor.

"In 2025, the Rosselkhoznadzor department received two complaints about unsatisfactory results obtained as part of public control during quality control of samples of drinking ultra-pasteurized milk and samples of canned milk purchased from retailers in St. Petersburg," the department noted.

It was clarified that eight samples of dairy products and six samples of canned milk were examined at the North-Western Testing Laboratory of the Federal State Budgetary Budgetary Institution "VNIIZH" at the Rosselkhoznadzor.

"There were no enterprises from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region among the manufacturers of these goods. According to the research results, 14 positive samples were identified, three of which confirmed the falsification of drinking ultra—pasteurized milk," the department added.

According to the department, the remaining 11 samples showed non-compliance of products with GOST standards, current standards of technical regulations for various indicators, as well as requirements for food products regarding their labeling.

"The Rosselkhoznadzor Administration sent letters to the addresses of stores where unsafe products were sold, demanding that the goods be withdrawn from circulation. The agency will also send an application to the St. Petersburg City Prosecutor's office to coordinate unscheduled on-site inspections of retail stores," the agency's press service explained.

The Prosecutor General's Office will conduct inspections of companies that used unacceptable components.
