American actress Michelle Trachtenberg, who starred in the TV series "Gossip Girl" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," has died at the age of 40. It is specified that the actress' mother found her dead in an apartment in an elite residential complex in Manhattan.

According to sources, Trachtenberg recently underwent a liver transplant. The death of the actress is not being investigated as suspicious, the newspaper added.

Trachtenberg began her career at the age of three, starring in commercials. By the age of six, she had landed a role in the TV series Law and Order. Later, the actress starred in films such as "Inspector Gadget", "Eurotour" and "Daddy is 17 again".

The actress is the winner of three Young Artist Awards and has been awarded in eight nominations, including the YoungStar Award, Teen Choice Award, Daytime Emmy Award and Saturn Award.
