The biologist told about the beneficial properties of grapes for the body

Grapes are a source of vitamins, antioxidants and healthy sugars that have a beneficial effect on the body. According to the biologist, the berry reduces cholesterol levels and the risk of heart attacks, improves blood circulation and contains fiber that helps the intestines.
"Grapes contain the antioxidant resveratrol, flavonoids and polyphenols, which protect cells from aging and inflammation. It is rich in natural sugars — glucose and fructose — and quickly replenishes strength. Thanks to vitamins C, A, E and B-groups, it strengthens the body's defenses. It improves memory and cognitive functions, reduces the risk of Alzheimer's disease," the expert said.
However, Irina Lyalina warned: in some conditions, the berry can harm the body. She clarified that due to the high sugar content, grapes can increase blood glucose levels, which is dangerous for diabetes. In addition, the berry is high in calories — it contains about 70 kcal per 100 g, respectively, there is a risk of weight gain when overeating.
According to the biologist, grapes can cause bloating, fermentation and flatulence, and their acids can worsen ulcers or gastritis.
"Skin reactions or digestive disorders are possible in sensitive people, young children risk choking on bones, and excessive consumption can cause constipation," Lyalina added.
The safe rate of grapes for adults is 150-300 g per day (one or two small bunches), for children — 50-150 g per day, depending on age. The biologist clarified: with diabetes and obesity, it is advisable to eat green grapes with a low sugar content, but no more than 50 g. Pregnant women should not consume more than 200 g per day to avoid swelling and excessive weight gain.
"It is more correct to eat grapes in the morning for better absorption, and 30 minutes before meals to stimulate digestion. Grapes are also recommended after physical exertion, as they quickly replenish energy," Irina Lyalina shared.
She also warned that it is better not to eat grapes at night — they can cause fermentation in the intestines and weight gain, and irritate the gastric mucosa on an empty stomach. In addition, it is better to limit the use of gastritis, ulcers and colitis.
On February 22, Adelina Muryasova, managing director and co-founder of the GASTRO CLINIC, told Izvestia about lactose intolerance and how to eliminate it. According to her, even people who used to calmly digest dairy products face unpleasant symptoms. She noted that among the main symptoms are gas formation, bloating and diarrhea. The expert called taking enzymes one of the ways to eliminate intolerance.
