Russians began to buy and sell more at bankrupt auctions

Russians have become more likely to buy and sell real estate, transport and other property at bankrupt auctions. The volume of transactions in such cases in 2024 amounted to 20 billion rubles, which is 7% more than in 2023 (18.7 billion). The average check for the year increased by 27% and reached 29.9 million rubles, according to the analysis of the marketplace of business assets and collateral of Sberbank Portal DA.
Commercial real estate became the most sought—after property last year, with the total amount of transactions in this category exceeding 8.3 billion rubles. Interest in residential premises was also high: individuals and legal entities concluded deals worth 3 billion rubles.
63% of transactions took place with one or two buyers. On average, two people participated in each auction for the purchase and sale of residential real estate. The leader in the number of participants was the category of "Special equipment" — more than four people usually took part in the bidding.
Several landmark deals took place in 2024. In Novokuznetsk, the City Mall shopping center was sold for 3.2 billion rubles. Of the cars, the sale of the 2013 LADA Largus caused the most excitement: 96 bidders raised the price of the car from 200 to 600 thousand rubles. An elite house with a plot in Moscow's Serebryany Bor was sold for 1.4 billion rubles — 100 million more expensive than the starting price.
"The figures show that it is profitable to sell and buy property at auction: the transaction is securely protected and transparent, the objects are free of encumbrances. According to forecasts, the trend of growth in bankruptcy transactions will continue in 2025, so we will continue to develop our marketplace," said Evgeny Akimov, Head of Sberbank's Enforcement and Bankruptcy Department.
He added that now it is possible to purchase property on the site, including with the help of a loan or mortgage in Sberbank, which expands the possibilities of users.
