Law enforcement agencies in Kiel (Germany) conducted an inspection of the cargo ship Arne, which damaged an underwater data cable. This was reported on February 26 by the German newspaper Handelsblatt.

It is noted that the ship, sailing under the flag of Antigua and Barbuda and en route to Spain, was detained on February 21. Then he was suspected of damaging an underwater data cable off the Swedish island of Gotland. It is specified that there was no anchor on the ship.

After interrogation, the crew was released and the ship continued on its way. Law enforcement officials declined to comment, as the case is still under investigation.

Earlier, on February 21, the SVT TV channel reported on damage to an underwater cable within the exclusive economic zone of Sweden near the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. Law enforcement agencies suggested that the cable could have been damaged as a result of external influences.
