The Sports and Disciplinary Committee of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) has suspended Lokomotiv striker Stepan Nikulin for one match for stabbing Dynamo forward Max Comtois in the groin with a stick. This was announced on Wednesday, February 26, in the press service of the KHL.

The incident occurred during a match on February 25 in the middle of the third period, when the 23-year-old striker stabbed Comtois in the groin with a stick, after which he was removed from the court for the rest of the game. The match between Lokomotiv Yaroslavl and Dynamo Moscow ended with a score of 1:3.

Nikulin is guilty of violating clause 1.15.2 of Article 28 ("Hitting with a stick") of the Disciplinary Regulations. As punishment, he will have to pay a monetary fine in the amount of 30 to 70 thousand rubles and miss one match.

Dynamo's victory allowed the club's hockey players to guarantee themselves ahead of schedule participation in the playoffs. They finished in third place in the Western Conference. At the same time, Lokomotiv continues to lead with 89 points.
