Relations between Russia and Guinea-Bissau are successfully developing on the basis of mutual respect and growing trust. This was announced on February 26 by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at talks with his colleague from Guinea-Bissau, Oumar Sisoku Embalo, in the Kremlin.

The leader of Guinea-Bissau, in turn, called Russia a reliable partner.

The presidents opened the talks with a meeting of the delegations in a narrow format. Putin met the President of Guinea-Bissau in the Zelensky living room of the Grand Kremlin Palace.

In addition to developing bilateral cooperation, Putin and Embalo are expected to discuss topical issues on the international and regional agenda at the talks.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guinea-Bissau, Carlos Pereira, said on September 29 last year href="https://iz.ru/1766563/2024-09-29/glava-mid-gvinei-bisau-zaiavil-ob-interese-respubliki-v-raschetakh-v-natcvaliutakh " target="_blank">about the republic's interest in settlements in national currencies with Russia. He also ruled out the impact of anti-Russian sanctions on bilateral cooperation.
