Lavrov commented on Macron's statement about Russian frozen assets

The Russian Foreign Minister recalled that, according to Macron, it is impossible to confiscate the assets of the Russian Federation, as this is a violation of international law, but at the same time profits from these assets can be used for the needs of Ukraine.
"Moscow wants to ask Paris to explain in which document it is allowed to use profits from what was stolen," the minister said at a press conference in Doha.
Lavrov also called the statements of the Secretary of State healthy reflections USA Marco Rubio on readiness to discuss frozen Russian assets.
"The issue of frozen, as he said, Russian assets should be considered, and in conjunction with those steps that were taken by the Russian Federation in response and which affect the interests of American companies in this case. These are healthy reflections," he concluded, commenting on Rubio's words.
On February 24, Macron said that the Russian assets frozen by the European Union (EU) cannot be confiscated, since this href="https://iz.ru/1844514/2025-02-24/makron-ukazal-na-nevozmozhnost-konfiskovat-zamorozhennye-aktivy-rf"> The initiative contradicts the laws of international law. He noted that the issues of Russian assets should be discussed as part of the negotiations on Ukraine.
In turn, the head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, said on February 4 that the EU was working on href="https://iz.ru/1833563/2025-02-04/v-ek-zaiavili-o-tvorcheskom-ispolzovanii-rossiiskikh-aktivov-dlia-pomoshchi-ukraine " target="_blank">the "most creative" use of Russian frozen assets to provide assistance to Ukraine.
