If the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, is convicted, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), which includes this autonomy, will face disastrous consequences. This was announced by the Russian Foreign Ministry on February 26.

"If a guilty verdict is reached, then consequences that are detrimental to the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Balkans as a whole are inevitable," the ministry said in a statement posted on its on the website.

They pointed out that the Russian Federation considers it necessary to warn about this as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and the guarantor state of the General Framework (Dayton) Agreement on Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1995.

The ministry pointed out that Dodik was legally elected to his post, and the trumped-up charges were brought not only against him, but also against the entire Serbian people. The ministry recalled that Christian Schmidt, the High Representative for BiH, whose orders Dodik is accused of disobeying, has not been approved by the UN.

The Russian Foreign Ministry called Dodik's persecution an undisguised mockery of the foundations of the rule of law, which was created by the West, and BiH is trying to use it to eliminate the patriotic forces of Republika Srpska who resist Euro-Atlantic neocolonialism.

The ministry called on BiH to take an objective position based on the principles of a sovereign state, and stressed that it is impossible to provoke tension in the country.
