Zakharova questioned Europe's right to participate in negotiations on Ukraine

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on February 26 questioned the possibility of the European Union (EU) participating in the negotiations on Ukraine because of inappropriate behavior during voting on UN resolutions at the beginning of the week.
She pointed to the shameful inconsistency of the actual leaders of Europe — Great Britain and France — on the issue of peace in Ukraine. Initially, delegates from London and Paris supported the anti-Russian document proposed by Kiev at a meeting of the UN General Assembly (GA). However, subsequently, the same people at a meeting of the UN Security Council voted for a neutral American draft.
"The clown parade [at the UN] has passed, but there is still an important nuance. <..."It is these [European] countries that have been shouting every day for the past month that they should be at the negotiating table. How can you be seated at the negotiating table if you arrange such a thing at this negotiating table?" Zakharova said on radio Sputnik.
She stressed that at the UN, the EU had a real chance to demonstrate its desire for peace through a diplomatic procedure honed over the 80 years of the organization's existence.
"Instead, they have once again disgraced themselves," Zakharova concluded.
February 24, UN Security Council Approved the resolution proposed by the United States on the conflict at Ukraine. Russia was among the countries that voted in favor. The document called for work to resolve the conflict as soon as possible. At the same time, on February 24, the UN General Assembly adopted the anti-Russian resolution, which was not supported by Washington. Then 65 countries decided to abstain from voting.
