Production of import-substituting parts for Lada to be launched in St. Petersburg

As he said in an interview with TASS, the production of parts will be established as part of a federal initiative to support projects involving the development of design documentation for components that are necessary for the automotive industry.
KMZ will start producing parts for Lada Vesta family cars: engine left suspension support cushions (designed to mount the power unit to the body and subframe in the engine compartment), as well as rear engine suspension rods. Previously, they were supplied by a Hungarian manufacturer of pneumatic springs, as well as a German company. In the future, the products will also be installed on KamAZ heavy trucks. Production will be put on stream after a series of tests.
The total investment in both projects is more than 44 million rubles. The result of the work is expected at the end of 2025. When developing products, only materials and components of the domestic production base will be taken into account, KMZ emphasized. The market volume of these products will amount to more than 3 billion rubles per year.
The day before, the head of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, stated that he supports taxi localization initiative in Russia. Taxi transportation is beginning to have strategic importance, so this industry needs technological independence, he said.
Also on February 25, Sokolov said that due to the decline in the car market in Russia at the beginning of this year the total stocks of finished Lada cars have reached 100 thousand units. According to him, with good sales rates, the situation with a runoff of about 60 thousand cars is considered normal. Sokolov called the situation on the Russian car market alarming.
