Three children were found abandoned in an apartment in the city of Murino, Leningrad Region, and a criminal case of torture was opened against their mother. This was reported on February 26 in the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in the Leningrad region.

Law enforcement officers found information in the media that in the Vsevolzhsky district a woman deprived three of her children of food and water.

"On this fact, the investigative department for the city of Murino of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Leningrad region immediately initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part a, Part 2, Article 117 of the Criminal Code ("Torture of two or more minors")," the agency's Telegram channel says.

As the investigation found out, a 40-year-old woman living in Murino in an apartment building systematically deliberately did not feed or water her children in order to cause psychological suffering. In addition, she left them alone for a long time, which made them afraid.

The children were taken away from the family. The issue of transferring them to custody is being resolved. Nothing threatens the lives and health of children. Their mother was detained and sent for interrogation, and investigators have already prepared a motion for the arrest of the woman.

The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
