Belarus has ratified a security treaty with Russia


The House of Representatives (lower house of parliament) of the National Assembly of Belarus, at a meeting on February 26, ratified the treaty with Russia on security guarantees within the framework of the Union State.
"In order to prevent and repel acts of aggression against Belarus, military and other facilities of the Russian Federation may be established on the territory of the republic, as well as military formations of the Russian Federation," the text of the document quotes TASS.
In the future, the draft law on the ratification of the treaty will be submitted to the Council of the Republic for adoption, and after that it will be sent to President Alexander Lukashenko for signing.
The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Lukashenko signed the agreement on security guarantees on December 6, 2024.
Members of the Federation Council (SF) have ratified the treaty with Belarus on security guarantees within the framework of the Union State on February 26. Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matvienko noted that the document is very important for both sides, given the current geopolitical situation.
