On February 26, the Kirov Court of Astrakhan sentenced Oleg Polumordvinov, the former head of the city administration, to 4.5 years in a general regime penal colony for attempted fraud. This was announced by the defendant's lawyer, Alexander Karabanov, in an interview with Izvestia.

In addition to imprisonment, the court also imposed a fine of 1 million rubles on Polumordvinov.

"The defense plans to appeal the verdict as illegal and unfounded within the time limit prescribed by law," the lawyer said.

Earlier, on January 22, Polumordvinov filed an application addressed to the prosecutor about href="https://iz.ru/1826272/2025-01-22/advokat-polumordvinova-dopustil-lzhesvidetelstvo-dvukh-chelovek-po-delu " target="_blank">possible perjury in his case. According to the defender of the former head of Astrakhan, two prosecution witnesses had a personal interest in giving false testimony.

August 8th law enforcement officers detained Polumordvinov, his ex-deputy Ivan Saprykin, who headed the Department of Road Management and transport, as well as Viktor Fedorov, director of Aitikom LLC. According to the investigation, they provided protection for a monetary reward when fulfilling a municipal order in the field of road construction.
