Despite the "extravagance" of the idea of placing nuclear warheads of France and Great Britain in Germany, Moscow is following the discussions of NATO members on this topic, Mikhail Ulyanov, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to International organizations in Vienna, told Izvestia.
"In any case, we will closely monitor any possible changes in the nuclear policy of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance," he stressed.The leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Friedrich Merz, recently admitted that Berlin should discuss with Paris and London the possibility of extending the Franco-British nuclear umbrella to Germany. According to the diplomat, Merz's idea is redundant even from the point of view of the interests of Germany and NATO.
