Russia and Iran will continue to develop trade and economic cooperation. The corresponding statement was published on February 25 on on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Following the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Tehran, where meetings were held with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Peseshkian and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, the entire range of multifaceted Russian-Iranian relations was reviewed in detail, the ministry noted.

Thus, as part of the exchange of views on the current global and regional agenda, emphasis was placed on the situation in Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, as well as the Caspian issue.

In addition, issues of further enhancing mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation, including the implementation of priority joint projects in the fields of energy and transport, were discussed.

"It was agreed to continue an active Russian-Iranian dialogue on all foreign policy areas of mutual interest," the ministry said in a statement.

The day before, it was reported about meeting Lavrov with Peseshkian during his visit to Tehran. Prior to that, Lavrov held talks with the Iranian Foreign Minister, during which he discussed the situation in Syria, prospects for a settlement within the framework of the Iranian nuclear program and other events on the agenda.
