At least 29 people died as a result of floods in the provinces of Farah and Kandahar in Afghanistan. This was reported on February 25 by the agency Ariana News.

According to the head of the disaster management department in Farah, Mohammad Israel Sayyar, 21 local residents died and 11 others were injured in the floods in the Kala-i-Kakh region of the province.

"The victims went to the Kala-i-Kakh mountains for recreation when a stream of water suddenly carried them away," he said.

At the same time, eight more people were killed in southern Afghanistan in Kandahar, including four children, and six more people are also injured.

As it became known on February 16, as a result of a powerful storm that caused flooding, eight people were killed in the US state of Kentucky and one in Georgia. Also in Georgia, one person died at night in Atlanta when a large tree fell on a house due to thunderstorm activity in the area.
