The case was opened after a drunken accident with a deceased in the Lipetsk region.

A criminal case has been opened in the Lipetsk region on the fact of an accident, as a result of which one person was killed and two injured. As it turned out, the alleged culprit of the accident was under the influence of alcohol and drugs, according to the regional prosecutor's office.

The accident occurred last Friday, February 21, on the Khlevnoye–Terbiny highway. The GAZ Sobol car drove into the oncoming lane in the area of a dangerous turn on the descent and crashed into the Niva.

As a result of the collision, the 54-year-old driver of the car was killed. His 48-year-old passenger, as well as the driver of the Sobol, were taken to the hospital with various injuries, writes GOROD48.

As it turned out, GAZ was operated by a 34-year-old resident of the Voronezh Region. He was driving a new company car from Nizhny Novgorod and had been driving continuously for 11 hours at the time of the accident.

"The examination showed that the man allowed the collision not only because of fatigue. Alcohol and several types of drugs were found in his body," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

A criminal case has been opened against the driver under paragraph "a" of Paragraph 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person committed by a person in a state of intoxication"). The court detained the man for two months.
