- Foreign Affairs assessed the likelihood of Trump exerting pressure on Russia and China

The President USA Donald Trump will not put pressure on Russia and China on domestic policy issues. This was reported on February 25 by the magazine Foreign Affairs (FA).
According to the publication, Russia and China were forced to cope with the systemic pressure of the United States during the rule of former presidents Joe Biden, Barack Obama and George W. Bush.
"With Trump's return to office, this pressure dissipated. The shape of the governments in Russia and China does not bother Trump," the article says.
The authors expressed the opinion that earlier Moscow and Beijing could perceive Washington's external pressure as an attempt to interfere in domestic politics.
"Despite the persistence of sources of tension, the overall atmosphere will be less tense and more diplomatic exchanges will be possible," the authors noted.
It clarifies that this approach can lead to the opening of more opportunities for specific agreements between the three countries. This includes issues of international security and arms control.
The President of Russia Vladimir Putin said on February 24 that Russia and the United States could come to an agreement href="https://iz.ru/1844535/2025-02-24/putin-zaiavil-o-vozmozhnosti-rf-i-ssha-dogovoritsia-o-sokrashchenii-vooruzheniia-na-50 " target="_blank">on the reduction of weapons by 50%. According to him, China could also join this agreement.
