The Russian Embassy spoke about contacts with local authorities after the attack in Marseille.

After the attack on the Russian Consulate General in Marseille on February 24, the French authorities promptly contacted the embassy through the channels of both the Foreign Ministry and law enforcement agencies and assured them that all necessary measures were being taken to strengthen the security of Russian foreign missions in France, the diplomatic mission told Izvestia.

"We are in constant working contact with the French competent services," they noted.

The diplomats said that recently there had been no direct threats against Russian diplomatic, consular and other institutions.

"On the contrary, the embassy receives appeals from the French and our compatriots with words of support," they added.

The explosion in Marseille occurred on February 24. It was clarified that unknown persons threw three explosive bottles into the territory of the diplomatic mission, two of them exploded. The Russian Embassy in France reported that as a result of the explosion href="https://iz.ru/1844129/2025-02-24/v-posolstve-rf-soobshchili-ob-otsutstvii-postradavshikh-v-genkonsulstve-v-marsele">no one was injured.

Marseille Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation, classifying this case as vandalism with the use of explosives or incendiary substances. Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 360 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("An attack on persons or institutions that enjoy international protection in order to complicate international relations").

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the explosion on the territory of the diplomatic mission has everything href="https://iz.ru/1844082/2025-02-24/zakharova-soobshchila-o-priznakakh-terakta-vo-vzryve-u-genkonsulstva-rf-v-marsele " target="_blank">signs of a terrorist attack. She demanded that France, as the country of accreditation, take prompt and comprehensive measures to investigate the attack.
