- The Russian ambassador pointed to Moscow's desire to maintain communication channels with Germany.

Russia has always proceeded from the expediency of maintaining stable communication channels with Germany. This was announced on February 25 by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev.
According to him, the current state of bilateral relations was not the choice of the Russian side.
"The current state of Russian-German relations, which have been "paused" in some places and simply destroyed in others, is not our choice. We have always proceeded and are proceeding from the expediency of maintaining stable, "all—weather" communication channels," Nechaev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The Ambassador noted that this also concerns the inter-social level, maintaining a professional, civilized diplomatic dialogue, as well as taking advantage of economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and Germany.
He called Germany's previous policy of inflicting a "strategic defeat" on Russia untenable.
"Betting on sanctions, confrontation, and forceful solutions has not played out. Moreover, it caused huge damage to the German economy," he added.
Artyom Sokolov, a researcher at the Center for European Studies at the MGIMO Institute of International Studies, told Izvestia on February 24 that Friedrich Merz, the leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU) that won the German elections, would href="https://iz.ru/1844317/2025-02-24/ekspert-predrek-vystraivanie-germaniei-dialoga-s-rf-na-osnove-ritoriki-es-i-ssha " target="_blank">build a dialogue with Russia depending on from the political course of the transatlantic community in case of becoming Chancellor.
