Four WFU militants convicted in Kursk region terrorist attack case


A Russian court has found four militants of the 44th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) guilty in the case of the terrorist attack in Kursk Region. This was reported by the Telegram channel of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia on February 25.
"The evidence <...> has been recognized by the court as sufficient to pass a sentence on servicemen of the 64th separate rifle battalion of the 44th separate mechanized brigade of the AFU Pavel Oleksyuk, Sergey Gorbachenko, Yuri Andreychenko and Grigory Lyashenko," the agency said in a statement.
According to investigators, the four militants prevented the evacuation of residents from the Kursk village of Snagost, repeatedly opened fire on civilians and occupied private houses in the settlement. Later the Ukrainians were detained by Russian fighters.
It is indicated that the court sentenced Oleksyuk to 16 years in prison, the other militants received 15 years each. All four will spend the first three years in prison, and the rest of the term - in a strict regime penal colony.
Earlier, on February 19, the court sentenced four more Ukrainian army fighters from the 22nd separate mechanized brigade to prison. It was specified that the men intimidated local residents, occupied houses and repeatedly opened fire on Russian servicemen and civilians.
