Historic landfills in Transbaikalia will be brought up to standards

Zabaikalye has started to bring historical landfills, to which the rego-operator removes solid waste, into a standardized condition. For these purposes 91.4 million rubles from the regional budget has been allocated, the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Natural Resources reports on Tuesday, February 25.

According to the order of the federal Ministry of Natural Resources, municipalities need to hold tenders to determine the contractor, who will have to fence the perimeter of the landfill. It is also necessary to build industrial and domestic buildings and control and disinfection units with concrete baths.

As IA ChitaMedia notes, 10 municipalities have already signed a contract for the works. The same number of municipalities are taking part in auctions. Mogotuisky, Zabaikalsky, Petrovsk-Zabaikalsky districts and Olovyanninsky and Karymsky districts have not yet announced the bidding.

Earlier in February it was reported that regional authorities will have to eliminate unauthorized garbage dumps if the culprits of their occurrence cannot be identified. This is stated in a draft law prepared with the participation of the Russian Environmental Operator (REO).
