Kobakhidze called Georgia's decision not to impose sanctions against Russia historic

The decision of the Georgian authorities not to impose sanctions against Russia in 2022 was historic. This was stated by the country's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in a conversation with journalists on 25 February.
According to him, in 2022 Georgia could have turned into a "second front" of the conflict in Ukraine.
"The refusal to impose anti-Russian sanctions was a historic decision and statement. Then there was a direct attempt of escalation, <...> so that the country would be involved in the military conflict in Ukraine," Sputnik Georgia quoted him as saying.
As the prime minister noted, the Georgian state was threatened with economic destruction in case of imposing anti-Russian sanctions following the example of the West.
Earlier, on February 18, Georgian President Mikhail Kavelashvili said that external forces were trying to push the country to war with Russia. According to him, such calls had been made since the first days of the conflict in Ukraine.
