33 stray dogs were fished out in the Foothills in the Stavropol region

In the Predgorny district of Stavropol Krai fished out 33 stray dogs since the beginning of 2025. After the necessary veterinary procedures, the dogs are returned to the streets again, reports the press service of the district on Tuesday, February 25.
The animals are brought to a temporary holding center, where they stay for at least 27 days. There they are vaccinated and sterilized. The non-aggressive ones are released into their habitats or tried to find them a home. Volunteers search for new owners. This is how the OCVV program works - "capture-sterilization-vaccination-return."
"Our district was one of the first to get involved in this work. A catching service was created, a car, a specialized trailer, medicines and necessary equipment were purchased. This allows us to promptly solve citizens' requests for catching neglected animals," said the head of the district Nikolay Bondarenko, his quote is quoted by StavropolMedia IA.
The service for catching stray animals was created in Predgorye in the second half of 2024. According to the manager, after the appearance of temporary detention centers in Stavropol, cases of attacks by stray dogs decreased by 45%.
Earlier "Izvestia" wrote that Russia began to use biometric identification to keep track of pets and those who do not have an owner. So far, the pilot project is operating in three regions - the Leningrad and Smolensk Regions, as well as the Perm Territory.
