Suspects in the attack on the Russian Consulate General in Marseille have been identified on the basis of external video surveillance cameras of the diplomatic mission. This was reported by Russian Consul General in France Stanislav Oransky on February 25.

"One of the cameras caught the face of one of those who threw improvised explosive devices," he told the TASS news agency.

Oransky, citing French law enforcement agencies, noted that the suspected French citizens were detained at a pro-Ukrainian rally in the center of Marseille.

Other information on the case remains closed due to ongoing investigations, the consul general added.

Theexplosion in Marseille occurred on February 24. It was specified that unknown persons threw three bottles with explosive substance on the territory of the diplomatic mission, two of them exploded. The Russian Embassy in France reported that no one was injured in the explosion.

The Marseille prosecutor's office launched an investigation, qualifying the case as vandalism with the use of explosives or incendiary substances. The Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under part 2 of Article 360 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Attacking persons or institutions that enjoy international protection, with the aim of complicating international relations").

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the explosion on the territory of the diplomatic mission had all the signs of a terrorist attack. She demanded that France, as a country of accreditation, take prompt and exhaustive measures to investigate the attack.
