Scientists of the Transbaikal State University have found a new way of extracting gold from mining waste. The technology turned out to be more environmentally friendly, according to the university's Telegram channel.

Studies have shown that from 1 cubic meter of mining waste can be extracted 0.35 grams of gold using the gravity method. The scientists used only water as a separating medium, without toxic reagents.

Through the use of photoelectrochemical influences, it was possible to reduce the amount of sodium cyanide several times. This is safer and reduces the level of aggressive impact on the environment, writes IA ChitaMedia.

The new technology has already passed laboratory tests and has shown its effectiveness. Now a team of scientists headed by Lidia Shumilova, professor of the department of engineering ecology of ZabGU is preparing the project for implementation in industry.

Earlier "Izvestia" wrote that Russian scientists have developed automated stations for underwater seismic exploration. The use of such devices will help optimize the search and exploration of offshore oil, gas and other mineral deposits, as well as monitor anthropogenic activity in territorial waters.
