Lawyer of the woman who abandoned her daughter at the airport in Turkey says she plans to appeal the sentence

Russian Ekaterina Burnashkina, who left her newborn daughter at Antalya airport in October 2024, will appeal the verdict. This was reported to "Izvestia" on February 25 by her lawyer Ayşegül Kübra Polat.

"The court's decision is not a final judgment. We will appeal to a higher court," the lawyer said.

On February 24, a court in Turkey sentenced Burnashkina to 15 years in prison on charges of attempted murder of a close relative.

On October 14, 2024, an 18-year-old Russian woman gave birth in a toilet at Antalya airport and left the baby in the toilet bowl. The daughter was found and a criminal case was opened against Burnashkina.

The Russian woman stated that she did not know about her pregnancy, and soon expressed a desire to take the girl back to Russia. Later it turned out that the 18-year-old mother intends to give her daughter the name Nicole.
