Auto expert warns of the downsides of buying a Chinese pickup truck

The demand for pickup trucks in Russia is gradually growing largely due to the emergence of affordable Chinese models. If earlier this segment was represented mainly by expensive Toyota Hilux and Mitsubishi L200, now interesting "Chinese" alternatives are offered. However, later on the secondary market, models from China with this type of body may turn out to be illiquid. About this "Izvestia" on February 25 told the head of the project Likvi.com Alexander Korotkov.

Before buying a Chinese pickup should consider several factors - fuel consumption and liquidity. If the first factor is easier to put up with, since the weight of the car is obliged to have an appropriate internal combustion engine, the second factor can be unpleasant, especially if the owner of the pickup is going to sell it in the next couple of years, the expert pointed out.

"In addition to the fact that Chinese cars, in general, lose in price, so also the body type of the car remains "on the lover". It is worth being prepared for a long sale of the car, perhaps even below market. However, if you need a practical car for work or country trips for a long period of time, a Chinese pickup is the most suitable option, the pluses are definitely more than the minuses," Korotkov explained.

Modern pickup trucks are not just "trucks with a body," the specialist noted. The current Chinese models offer a good level of comfort and rich equipment, they become a worthy alternative to SUVs. This is not a solution for capitals, but in conditions of bad roads, suburban operation and work in small business (construction, farming) they can be indispensable, he emphasized.
