Autoexpert warns of dangerous used parts

Installing used spare parts on a car can lead to breakdowns, accidents or additional expenses. This was warned by the Service Director of Rolf Company, Yulia Trushkova, who listed which car parts should not be purchased on the secondary market.
First of all, one should not buy airbags and seat belts on the "secondary market" - the first ones are useless if they have already been triggered, and the second ones may have hidden damage from road accidents, which reduces their reliability.
Electronic components (control units, sensors, starters, generators) are sensitive to voltage fluctuations and moisture, Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes Trushkova as saying on February 25. A faulty ABS or airbag sensor can "kill" the whole system, and it is almost impossible to check the performance without special equipment, warned the expert.
Also on the secondary market should not buy fuel pumps, injectors and gasoline tanks, engine and transmission parts (turbines, clutch, belt / chain timing), suspension elements (shock absorbers, ball bearings, silent blocks), as well as batteries and consumables (spark plugs, filters, brake fluid), said the expert. At the same time, savings in the secondary market can be for body parts, disks or mirrors, she added.
The day before it was reported that the average age of passenger cars registered in Russia is 15.5 years. The most aged were cars of domestic brands, in second place in this rating were cars of Japanese brands.
February 18, auto expert Roman Timashov warned that a new car should be operated with care during the first 5 thousand kilometers, as any mating parts of the mechanism need lapping and adjustment. However, some car owners forget about it and subject the engine, transmission, brake system and other units to increased loads.
