Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested that the United States consider joint aluminum mining, including new regions of the country.

"We could think together with American companies about joint work in this direction," he said on February 24 during a conversation with VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.

Putin recalled that back in the Soviet times there were plans to build a new hydroelectric power plant and develop additional aluminum production in Krasnoyarsk Krai.

In addition, the president emphasized that rare-earth metal reserves in Russia far exceed similar resources in Ukraine. Nevertheless, he called for the active development of mining of these elements, as he believes that the Russian state is currently not making sufficient efforts to do so.

On February 24, Putin suggested at a meeting to consider the development of the domestic industry of rare and rare-earth metals. According to him, this is necessary to be able to compete on global markets, as well as for the development of the Russian economy.
