Police officers detained fraudsters with cab aggregators in Novosibirsk

In Novosibirsk, police officers detained suspects in committing fraud through cab aggregators. This was reported by the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry Irina Volk on February 25.

According to preliminary data, in the period from January 2023 to November 2024, the accused with the help of a special application hacked into the security system of the cab aggregator and registered more than 50 accounts on the driver's license of third parties.

After that, the defendants independently formed orders and put fictitious marks on their fulfillment, substituting GPS-coordinates. The fraudsters received corresponding payments for the allegedly performed flights. The total damage from their activities amounted to more than 3.5 million rubles.

During searches at the residences of the suspects, 23 smartphones, laptops and SIM cards were seized. A criminal case under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud") was initiated against the detainees. Investigative measures are being carried out to establish all the circumstances and possible accomplices of the crime.

February 24, police detained two residents of St. Petersburg, who hacked into the accounts of users of marketplaces in order to steal goods. The attackers picked up logins and passwords to personal accounts, after which they ordered expensive equipment in installments and resold it through other online stores. A criminal case under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud") was initiated against the defendants.
