The federal court of the District of Columbia refused the American news agency Associated Press to resume access for its journalists to the White House events. This was reported on February 24 by the American portal Axios.

The judge denied the Associated Press' request to lift the White House's ban on access to some press events because he wanted more information about the circumstances of the case.

"The White House welcomed the judge's ruling because asking questions of the President of the United States in the Oval Office and aboard Air Force One is a privilege granted to journalists, not a legal right," the portal quotes the White House press office as saying.

The next hearing on the case will be held on March 20.

February 22, it was reported that AP filed a lawsuit against aides to the U.S. President for the fact that the journalists of the editorial office were deprived of access to the head of state. The reason for the restrictions was the refusal of AP to call the Gulf of Mexico a new toponym - the Gulf of America. The agency believes that with his decision Trump violates the country's constitution, including the First Amendment, which guarantees freedom of speech.
