Macron backs resumption of dialog with Putin on Ukraine


French President Emmanuel Macron on February 24 spoke in favor of resuming dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"There is every reason to resume dialog with Putin," he said during a press conference, which was broadcast on the official account of the Elysee Palace on the social network X (former Twitter).
The French president also supported the actions of U.S. leader Donald Trump to resume dialog with the Russian president.
Macron's intention to visit Washington on February 22 was reported by Advance. It was specified that the French leader and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer during the visit are going to discuss with Trump the dispatch of 30 thousand military personnel to Ukraine.
In turn, The Times reported on February 24 that Starmer and Macron were planning to persuade the US president to abandon negotiations with Russia. According to the newspaper, as an alternative, they are going to offer EU support for Kiev's security.
