On the eve of spring, therapist Natalya Leontieva told about the precautionary measures to protect oneself and loved ones from tick-borne encephalitis.

In a conversation with RuNews24.Ru on Monday, February 24, the doctor stressed that this is a serious disease that can lead to disability and even death. The most reliable way, according to her, is vaccination, its courses consist of several vaccinations. It is important to start it in advance, before the season of tick activity.

Leontieva advised during walks in the park, forest or other places where ticks live to wear the most closed clothing, pants should be tucked into socks or boots, a shirt with long sleeves and tightly compressed cuffs, on the head - a hat.

It is not unreasonable to use special means to repel ticks. They should be applied to clothing and exposed parts of the body. Ticks are often sucked in the neck, head, armpits, groin area, so it is necessary to carefully inspect clothes and body after a walk in their habitats, RT writes.

February 18, MD Vladimir Neronov listed the actions in case of a tick bite in winter. In particular, you should not remove it yourself, it is better to seek medical help. If it was not possible to contact a specialist immediately, it is important to monitor your condition. For two weeks after the bite it is worth monitoring the body temperature.

February 12, Moscow veterinarians reported cases of babesiosis in dogs after a tick bite. Vet doctors pay attention that only untreated pets suffered from ticks during the thaw, reports the agency of city news "Moscow".

January 23 in Rospotrebnadzor warned that the season of activity of ticks in 2025 may begin earlier due to warm and low-snow winter. Meanwhile, for different regions, the situation for different regions due to a wide variety of natural conditions will differ, writes NSN. Experts strongly advise caution when spending time in nature, in forests or parks, Pravda.Ru notes.

February 21, Director of the NIKI Childhood Niso Odinaeva said that in rare cases encephalitis can develop due to autoimmune diseases, when the immune system attacks its own cells, or as a result of allergic reactions to certain substances, notes 360.ru.
