Snickers and Oreo makers warned of 5-20% price hikes

Two major suppliers of sweets have warned the federal trade that they are revising the prices of their products, Izvestia has learned. Thus, the company "Mars" has sent its partners a notice about the rise in price of some goods from the basic price list, the increase is planned to be carried out in two stages: from February 20 and from March 24.

"We are facing an unprecedented increase in costs and production costs due to record high exchange prices for cocoa beans and cocoa products, as well as the rise in the price of other ingredients, growing logistics and operating costs, plus - the growth of packaging costs and volatility of exchange rates," the company emphasized in the letter.

It also clarified that due to stock exchange trends and inflation forecasts, another price increase should be expected in the future.

Since the end of February, the cost of large bars will increase by 14%, standard bars - by 19%, and other formats - from 13% to 19%. Skittles will increase in price by 12%, M&M candy bars - up to 16%. Starting March 24, the company plans to ship Korkunov candies more expensive by 14-19% depending on the weight of the product.

On February 13, retailers also received a notice from Mondelez. From April 1, it raises by 14.9% the cost of products under the trademarks Alpen Gold, Milka and "Vozdushny". In addition, the price of biscuit category - brands Oreo, "Barney", TUC, "Jubilee", BelVita - will go up by 6-9%. The company explains such changes by a serious price rise in several items at once. Thus, the cost of oils increased by 26-40% from April 2024 to mid-February, and cocoa - by 39%.
