Trump pointed to progress in talks with Russia on Ukraine


The negotiation process between Russia and the United States on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine is progressing "very well". This was reported by American President Donald Trump in the social network Truth Social on February 24.
"At the same time I am in serious negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end <conflict> <...>. Negotiations are going very well!" - he wrote.
There are also discussions between Washington and Moscow in the field of economic development between the states, but no details were given.
Trump also indicated that a deal with Kiev on rare earth metals could ensure the development of Ukraine's economy. He specified that the agreement should be signed soon.
The day before, on February 23, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that a new round of talks between the Russian Federation and the United States is scheduled for the end of the beginning of the week. The deputy minister emphasized Moscow's openness to dialog with Washington, including on the topic of irritants in bilateral relations.
Before that, on February 20, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia was impressed by the position of the new administration in Washington on the settlement of the situation in Ukraine. According to him, the new US administration has different views - they say that it is necessary to establish peace as soon as possible and to do it through negotiations.
