Canada has added 76 individuals and legal entities to the sanctions list against Russia. This follows from the updated "Regulations on Special Economic Measures (Russia)".

According to the document published on the website of the Canadian government, the new sanctions affected 33 individuals and 44 organizations.

"Canada is taking action against Russia's shadow fleet by imposing sanctions on 109 vessels based on their involvement in the transfer of sanctioned goods, including hydrocarbons," the press service of the country's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau added.

The foreign ministers of the European Union (EU) approved the 16th package of sanctions against Russia on February 24. The sanctions list included 48 individuals and 35 organizations. In addition, it was decided to ban 13 banks from access to the SWIFT system.

On the same day, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said that the EU planned to prepare the 17th package of anti-Russian sanctions.
