On February 24, the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Russia informed Russians how to protect themselves from fraud with fake receipts for housing and utility services.
The ministry reminded that criminals can spread fake receipts in mailboxes, which are difficult to visually distinguish from the real ones.
Payment documents, as a rule, come from 1 to 5 of each month, notes the Ministry of Construction. If the receipt came earlier or later than usual, it is necessary to check the details of the recipient of the payment - you can do this in the mobile application "Gosuservices Dom" or on the portal GIS housing and communal services.
"Sometimes residents of apartment buildings discover in the entrances and on information stands an invitation to join the house chat. When trying to go by QR code, users lose their account in messenger, and then fraudsters use it to deceive other users", - it is said in the Telegram-channel of the Ministry.
In such a case, the Ministry of Construction recommends to seek advice from neighbors and check the link, which is offered to go to, for errors. In addition, you should make sure that the invitation contains the correct address of the house.
Attackers can also call and write in messengers, as well as come to the homes of citizens under the guise of employees of social services. The agency emphasized: public utilities are obliged to warn about the visit, and the owner of the apartment is not obliged to open if he did not call the employee himself.
Information security expert, deputy general director of Staffcop Yuri Drachenin on February 5, also named ways to protect themselves from fraud with fake receipts.
He advised against spontaneous scanning of QR codes from paper receipts and noted that it is safer to pay bills through the official applications of the management company, the GIS service or through pre-created templates in the mobile bank.
