Murmansk regional court considered the case on the recognition of genocide of Nazi crimes in the occupied territories of the region during the Great Patriotic War (WWII). This was reported by the correspondent of "Izvestia" from the courtroom on February 24.

Thus, the court considered the testimonies of eyewitnesses, historians and documentary filmmakers. Also representatives of the public organization "Children of the military Murman" took part in the process.

The first to speak was the prosecutor, who pronounced the facts of criminal activity of fascists, as a result of which 250 houses were destroyed, 1.1 thousand citizens were injured and almost 500 people were killed. According to his data, the damage to Murmansk is estimated at 415 million rubles (translated at the current exchange rate).

In addition, Murmansk resident Nelly Bulbaeva told about what her life was like during the WWII. She was only four years old at that time, but she remembers how she was forced to hide in the basement during the bombing with her grandmother.

Earlier, February 4, it was reported that the court recognized as genocide the crimes of Nazi invaders in the territory of Kalmykia during the World War II. It was noted that the evidence collected by the agency, along with other materials recognized by the court as sufficient to establish the fact of genocide.

In December last year, the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria reported that the crimes of Nazi invaders, which were committed on the territory of the republic during the World War II, were recognized as genocide of the peoples of the USSR. The court had begun examining the written evidence in the case a month earlier.
