A criminal case has been opened against a man who threw a cat off the "Swallow's Nest" in Crimea. This was reported by the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry Irina Volk on February 24.
"On the fact of cruel treatment of the animal my Crimean colleagues have opened a criminal case," she wrote in her Telegram-channel.
It is specified that the man, suspected under part 1 of article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, is placed in a medical hospital for 10 days.
The circumstances of the incident are clarified by law enforcement authorities.
It became known the day before that a man threw a cat from the observation deck of the complex "Swallow's Nest", located at a height of 40 meters above the sea. The animal died.
Representative of the press service of the state institution "Palace-Castle "Swallow's Nest" Tatiana Levashova told "Izvestia" that the security of the complex noticed the tragedy after the fact, reviewing footage from video surveillance cameras.
The man was detained in Dzhankoy. During interrogation, he stated that he wanted to pet the animal, but it lashed out.
