TheUSA has threatened to withdraw its support for the G7 statement on Ukraine. This was reported by Bloomberg on Monday, February 24, citing sources.

"The U.S. has threatened to withdraw support for the statement altogether <...> Discussions are ongoing and in the end it is still possible to come to an agreement," the publication said.

Thus, according to the publication, diplomats cannot find common ground after the US opposed the inclusion of anti-Russian language last week. In addition, Washington did not agree with the call for additional energy sanctions.

It is specified that in the administration of US President Donald Trump said that soon the G7 will hold another meeting, the purpose of which is to settle the Ukrainian conflict.

Earlier, on February 22, the American Secretary of State Mark Rubio said that the United States on February 24 will submit to the UNGA a resolution on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. He also reminded that Trump is an adherent of the idea of a diplomatic solution to the conflict.

Before that, on February 20, the Financial Times learned that the Trump administration insists on changing the wording in the statements of the G7. Thus, the American special representatives object to the phrase "Russian aggression" and similar expressions, which the leaders of the G7 have used since 2022 to describe the conflict.
