Depardieu became a defendant in a criminal case of tax fraud

France has launched an investigation into actor Gerard Depardieu on suspicion of non-payment of taxes. This was reported by the newspaper La Presse on February 24, citing sources.

The actor is accused of tax evasion and money laundering on a large scale. In addition, Depardieu is suspected of fictitious residence in Belgium since 2013.

According to those familiarized with the case, in the framework of the investigation in France and Belgium have already been searched and hearings. It is specified that the investigation was launched by the National Financial Prosecutor's Office of the country.

In October last year it became known that Depardieu will begin a trial on the case of harassment. The actor is accused of sexual violence two participants in the filming of the picture "Green Shutters" in 2021.
